Barry

Barry ~ 48 years old ~ Mentor

Barry has been a mentor on the team for six years. He mainly works with the mechanical team, helping with the drive train and the system. "I love robots - and I've built a couple of battle bots myself" (Barry). One of the things he has learned from being a mentor is to not set his expectations to high and, most importantly, be patient. He loves how fun robotics in. In his free time he enjoys playing frisbee golf and spring board diving. His goal is to have the robot finished and on time.
Christian ~ 37 years old ~ Software Engineer

Christian has been a mentor for the team for two years. He works with the electronics and programming teams. His hobby was a robot builder and when he found out about the team, joined instantly! He has learned how much it is to hang out with high school kids. His favorite thing about robotics is writing the code for the bot. In his free time, he enjoys cycling, running, and chasing his yound kids around. He dreams to see his small children attend Mr. Clark's class one day in the future.

Christian

Dave

Dave ~ 32 years old ~ Mechanical Engineer

Dave has been a mentor on the team for 5 years. He works with mechanical, the manipulator, and pnuematics! He joined robotics because "I wanted to give high school students a learning opportunity I wished I had when I was in high school."(Dave.) He has learned how to effectively teach young people. Holy cow it’s hard. His favorite thing about robotics is seeing students put in to practice the concepts he's taught them. He likes seeing the students grow in intelligence and maturity over their time on the team. Outside of robotics he enjoys golf, hockey, tennis, hiking, weightlifting, camping, fishing, and is also a humane society foster parent. He dreams of taking over the world.
David ~ 52 years old ~ Coach/Faculty Sponsor

Mr.Clark has been on the team since the beginning. He decided to sponsor the robotics team because he feels that "it was the best thing to come along in education for a long time." (David). He has truly learned students are capable of achieving so much more that we usually expect of them. His favorite thing about robotics? Seeing the completed robot at the end of the build season and realizing what we have accomplished! Outside of school he enjoys playing bagpipes, baking bread, gardening, and playing scrabble. He dreams of actually designing a robot before we start building and to have a season where we meet all our deadlines. :)

David

Roger

Roger ~ 58 years old ~ Electronic/Component Engineer

Roger has been a mentor on the team since the team began. Roger decided to become a mentor when he saw his children involved in robotics, and even though they've graduated and gone on to bigger and better things, he still comes back every year. "I've learned as much from the kids as I have taught them. I especially love teaching the new members each year, and seeing them light up. Watching the kids mature as time goes on is one of my favorite things about robotics; it's interesting to see how building a robot helps to build themselves." (Roger). In his free time, he enjoys woodworking and river running.
