What is FIRST Robotics?

  • FIRST is a varsity sport of the mind. Students are expected to create a robot out of a kit of parts and a set of common rules.
  • It helps young students discover the thrills of engineering.
  • The competition was created by Dean Kamen, Woodie Flowers and a committie of engineers and other professionals.
  • Winning is not just getting the most points, but rather demonstration of team spirit, excellence of design, GRACIOUS PROFESSIONALISM, maturity, and the ability to overcome obstacles.
  • Every year the game is a surprise, and teams all over the world look forward to the unveiling of it in the new year.
