Barry
Barry Anderson - Member for 9 years - Mentor - Role on Team: Mechanical CAD Electrical

Barry has been a mentor on the team for seven years. He mainly works with the mechanical team, helping with the drive train and the system. "I love robots - and I've built a couple of battle bots myself" (Barry). One of the things he has learned from being a mentor is to not set his expectations to high and, most importantly, be patient. He loves how fun robotics in. In his free time he enjoys playing Frisbee golf and spring board diving. His goal is to have the robot finished and on time.

Carson - Member for 3 years - Student - Role on Team: Mechanical

Carson is new to the team. He is working in mostly mechanical but tries to learn about the other categories as well. His favorite thing in Robotics is to watch all of the groups contribute to one thing, a robot. His favorite thing to do outside of school is to play with Legos and hang out with friends. His dream is to go to CU and be a designer.

Charles
Charles (Charlie) - Member for 4 years - Student - Role on Team: Programming

This is Charles second year on the team. He is a part of the programming team. Charlie had a blast last year and is excited to come back. One of the many things he has learned from robotics is how to use LabVIEW. Outside of school he is a part of marching band (tenor sax) and is also in a band called "Shamwari". He isn't quite sure about his future at the moment; he just wants to have a fun high school experience.

Chris (Pastry) - Member for 3 years - Student - Role on Team: Web Programming

Chris has been on the team since freshman year. He is currently on the team web programming staff. He heard about robotics through his older brother, and decided to join up. Since then, he has learned how to use Adobe Dreamweaver and some basic HTML and CSS. His favorite thing about robotics is that he can get a taste of what he might do in the future. Outside of robotics, he is involved with the Monarch Drumline and Writer's Guild. Outside of school, he takes kung-fu classes at a local school.

Christian Parker - Member for 5 years - Mentor - Role on Team: Programming Electrical

Christian works with the electronics and programming teams. His hobby was a robot builder and when he found out about the team, joined instantly! He has learned how much it is to hang out with high school kids. His favorite thing about robotics is writing the code for the bot. In his free time, he enjoys cycling, running, and chasing his young kids around. He dreams to see his small children attend Mr. Clark's class one day in the future.

Daniel (Dan, Dani, Danno (you pick!)) - Member for 3 years - Student - Role on Team: Electrical

Daniel joined the team his freshman year only two weeks before kickoff. He does some other things outside school like Track and Cross-Country so his schedule is a little hectic. Because of his late joining he felt fairly "out of the loop" and didn't really know anyone. But by the second week he already felt accepted and part of the team. He works on the electrical part of the team and is pretty new to all of the amazing things that go on around the workplace. Daniel first learned about the team through his teacher and one of the mentors, David Clark. His future goals are to either go to West Point or the Air Force Academy and become a career officer in the military, or make it to Brown or MIT and get a degree as both a biotechnician and a biochemist. While he is still thinking about his future, focusing on the 'bot and the team are his priorities right now.

Dave
Dave Hwang - Member for 8 years - Mentor - Role on Team: Mechanical Pneumatics

Dave works mostly with mechanical, the manipulator, and pneumatics! He joined robotics because "I wanted to give high school students a learning opportunity I wished I had when I was in high school." He has learned how to effectively teach young people. Holy cow it’s hard. His favorite thing about robotics is seeing students put in to practice the concepts he's taught them. He likes seeing the students grow in intelligence and maturity over their time on the team. Outside of robotics he enjoys golf, hockey, tennis, hiking, weightlifting, camping, fishing, and is also a humane society foster parent. He dreams of taking over the world.

David - Member for 9 years - Mentor - Role on Team: Faculty Sponsor/Coach

David Clark has been the faculty sponsor for the Mo-Hi Shazbots since their inception in the 2003-04 school year. He has been a teacher at Monarch since 1998 and teaches design and engineering classes in the da Vinci Lab. When he's not building robots, he can be found playing the bagpipes and looking at the stars.

Emily
Emily - Member for 3 years - Student - Role on Team: Pneumatics

This is Emily's first year in Robotics. She is a part of the small pneumatics team. She is nervous about next year when she and the other first year will have to teach the new comers and hopes she is up to the task. Apart from robotics she is involved in marching band and writer's guild. She looks forward to making an awesome robot this year. =)

Roger
Roger Perry - Member for 9 years - Mentor - Role on Team: Mechanical

Roger has been a mentor on the team since the team began. Roger decided to become a mentor when he saw his children involved in robotics, and even though they've graduated and gone on to bigger and better things, he still comes back every year. "I've learned as much from the kids as I have taught them. I especially love teaching the new members each year, and seeing them light up. Watching the kids mature as time goes on is one of my favorite things about robotics; it's interesting to see how building a robot helps to build themselves." (Roger). In his free time, he enjoys woodworking and river running.

Taylor - Member for 3 years - Student - Role on Team: Programming

This is Taylor's first year of doing robotics. She doesn't know a lot about programming but is excited to learn. Taylor joined robotics because her friend said it was fun. So far she's had a great time. It's hard to say what her favorite part of robotics is because whether it’s hanging out with everyone at robotics, or learning about algorithms and programming, she has a lot of fun. Outside of school Taylor likes to read, sketch, and hang out with her friends. She hopes to be a bioinformatician some day.
